The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is hiring a Navy Part-Time SELRES Reservist in Mountain View, Santa Clara County, to help bridge the gap between cutting-edge commercial technology and the operational needs of the Department of Defense.
About the Role
As a Navy Part-Time SELRES Reservist with the Defense Innovation Unit, you will serve alongside active-duty service members, government civilians, and contracted experts to accelerate the adoption of commercial innovation across the military. This Selected Reserve (SELRES) position is based on-site in Mountain View and combines naval service with hands-on exposure to the nation's leading technology ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support DIU's mission to build and strengthen commercial partnerships within innovation communities throughout the United States.
- Collaborate with a blended team of reservists, active-duty personnel, civilians, and consultants to advance defense technology initiatives.
- Contribute Navy expertise to projects that connect emerging commercial capabilities with real-world operational requirements.
- Fulfill SELRES drill and service obligations while coordinating across DIU's Mountain View headquarters and its broader network.
Qualifications
- Eligibility to serve as a U.S. Navy Selected Reserve (SELRES) member.
- Willingness to perform part-time reserve duties on-site in Mountain View, Santa Clara County.
- Ability to work effectively within a mixed team of military, civilian, and contractor personnel.
- Interest in defense innovation, commercial technology, and public-private collaboration.
