About the Role
As a Professional Driver (School Bus Driver) or Driver Trainee with Cleveland Metropolitan School District, you will play a vital part in connecting students with their education by getting them to and from school safely and on schedule. This full-time, on-site transportation position is based out of our Administration office or another location as assigned. Whether you arrive with experience behind the wheel or join us as a trainee, we provide the structure to help you grow into a dependable member of our transportation team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a school bus safely and responsibly while transporting students along assigned routes throughout the district.
- Follow all federal, state, and district transportation regulations, traffic laws, and safety procedures.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
- Maintain a calm, orderly, and supportive environment for students while they are on board.
- Keep to established pickup and drop-off schedules and adjust as routes are assigned.
- For Driver Trainees: complete required training and certification under the guidance of experienced staff.
Qualifications
- Commitment to student safety and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- Willingness to obtain or maintain the appropriate commercial driver licensing and certifications required to operate a school bus.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to keep a consistent daily schedule.
- Driver Trainee applicants are welcome and will receive the preparation needed to qualify for the role.
