This full-time, travel-based position is anchored in Houston, Harris County, and offers per diem for qualifying assignments.
About the Role
As a Substation Lead Technician with MasTec, you will guide field teams through the construction of electrical utility infrastructure that powers communities nationwide. Working under the Energy Erectors, Inc. (EEI) banner — a recognized name in transmission and substation work delivering projects up to 500 kV — you will take ownership of on-site execution, crew leadership, and quality. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a seasoned technician ready to build the energy systems of the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate substation construction crews across U.S. project sites.
- Oversee installation and assembly work on medium- and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Support transmission and substation builds on projects rated up to 500 kV.
- Uphold safety standards, workmanship quality, and project schedules in the field.
- Travel to project locations as assignments require, with per diem available.
Qualifications
- Proven, non-negotiable hands-on experience with medium- and high-voltage electrical work.
- Background in substation and/or transmission construction.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a field crew.
- Willingness to travel for extended, travel-based assignments.
- Commitment to working safely in a demanding utility-construction environment.
