About the Role
As a Lifeguard at the YMCA of Columbia Willamette, you'll be the watchful presence that keeps members and guests safe in and around the water at our Sherwood facility. This on-site role is perfect for swimming enthusiasts and anyone curious about aquatics or emergency services who wants to learn life-saving skills while working with a mission-driven team.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor pool areas attentively to ensure the safety of all swimmers and guests
- Respond quickly and calmly to aquatic emergencies and administer first aid as needed
- Enforce facility rules and water safety guidelines to prevent accidents
- Help create a welcoming, supportive environment for members of all ages and abilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free pool deck
Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Comfortable and confident in the water; swimming ability is essential
- Genuine interest in aquatics, water safety, or emergency services
- Willingness to learn life-saving techniques (training opportunities available)
- A dependable, safety-first attitude and strong attention to detail
