ATS Automation is hiring a full-time Director of Engineering in Irvine, Orange County, to steer a cross-functional engineering team building advanced products within a regulated life sciences setting.
About the Role
As Director of Engineering at ATS Automation, you will guide a multidisciplinary group of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineers based on-site in Irvine, Orange County. You will own both the people-leadership and technical-delivery sides of the function, shepherding products through every stage of their lifecycle while upholding the rigorous compliance standards expected in the life sciences industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a combined Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineering organization.
- Drive technical excellence and sound design decisions across all engineering disciplines.
- Oversee product development end to end — from initial concept and design through verification, validation, and commercialization.
- Ensure engineering work meets the quality and regulatory requirements of a controlled life sciences environment.
- Align team execution with project timelines, milestones, and organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams spanning mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
- Hands-on experience delivering products across the full development lifecycle, including verification and validation.
- Background working within regulated industries, ideally life sciences or a comparable compliance-driven sector.
- Strong blend of people management capability and deep technical judgment.
- Ability to work on-site in Irvine, Orange County.
