Staff AI Engineer, Perception

Agility Robotics is hiring a Staff AI Engineer, Perception in Salem, Marion County, to lead the development of the vision and sensing intelligence that lets our humanoid robots understand and navigate real-world industrial environments. This is a full-time, on-site position at the forefront of practical robotics.

About the Role

As a Staff AI Engineer focused on perception, you will architect the systems that allow our humanoids to see, interpret, and act within busy warehouses, factories, and distribution facilities. You will work at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, and robotics, building perception pipelines that are robust enough for daily commercial deployment alongside human teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement perception algorithms spanning object detection, segmentation, pose estimation, and sensor fusion.
• Build and refine the visual understanding stack that powers manipulation, navigation, and safe operation around people.
• Translate research advances in deep learning and computer vision into production-grade software running on real hardware.
• Set technical direction for the perception team and mentor fellow engineers across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Collaborate with controls, planning, and hardware groups to ship reliable, field-tested capabilities.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on expertise in computer vision and machine learning applied to perception challenges.
• Strong software engineering skills, with proficiency in languages and frameworks common to AI and robotics development.
• Experience taking perception systems from prototype to dependable, deployed products.
• A track record of staff-level technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Comfort working on physical robots and reasoning about the messiness of real operating environments.
