Essentia Health is hiring a full-time Adaptive Recreation Program Specialist with Northland Adaptive Recreation in Duluth, Saint Louis County, to help people with disabilities thrive through accessible sports and community recreation.
About the Role
As the Northland Adaptive Recreation Program Specialist at Essentia Health in Duluth, you will design and deliver inclusive recreation experiences that remove barriers and open the door to active, connected lives. This on-site position blends program leadership, hands-on coordination, and community engagement to ensure participants of all abilities can take part in meaningful sports and recreation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and run community-based sports and recreation offerings tailored to individuals living with disabilities.
- Evaluate every adaptive program through ongoing assessment, data collection, and outcome review to drive continuous improvement.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and interns who support participants and contribute to day-to-day operations.
- Keep accurate, current records across participant, volunteer, and donor databases.
- Maintain adaptive equipment and program resources so activities run safely and smoothly.
Qualifications
- Genuine commitment to inclusion and to supporting people with disabilities in recreation settings.
- Strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs at once.
- Experience leading, training, or mentoring volunteers, interns, or program staff.
- Comfort with data tracking, evaluation, and database management.
- Clear communication and relationship-building skills for working with participants, families, volunteers, and donors.
- Willingness to work on-site in Duluth, Saint Louis County.
