Day Habilitation Specialist

The New York Foundling is hiring a full-time Day Habilitation Specialist in Cooper, Manhattan, to help individuals build the everyday skills, confidence, and connections that lead to greater independence.

About the Role

As a Day Habilitation Specialist with The New York Foundling, you will guide and support people we serve through structured daily programming designed to strengthen personal, social, and community-living abilities. This on-site role in Cooper, Manhattan, places you at the heart of our mission: meeting each person where they are and walking alongside them toward stability, growth, and self-determination.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centered day habilitation activities that promote independence, communication, and meaningful community participation.
• Support individuals in developing daily living, social, and self-care skills tailored to their goals.
• Document progress accurately and contribute to individualized plans alongside the care team.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment during all programming.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and supports to coordinate consistent, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• A genuine commitment to supporting people with developmental or intellectual disabilities on their path to independence.
• Strong interpersonal, patience, and communication skills for working closely with the individuals we serve.
• Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain clear records.
• Willingness to work full-time, on-site in Cooper, Manhattan.
