About the Role
This is a full-time, T5 Excepted Service permanent position (GS-1102-12) based in the US. As a Contract Specialist, you will drive the full acquisition lifecycle — from early market research through final contract performance — applying sound judgment and contract law expertise to deliver smart, efficient contracting strategies that advance the Department of the Air Force's vision and mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough market research to inform purchasing decisions and sourcing approaches.
- Lead acquisition planning that aligns with organizational priorities and mission needs.
- Manage contract award activities through to execution.
- Oversee contract performance management to ensure compliance, quality, and timely delivery.
- Interpret and apply contract law to guide procurement actions and resolve issues.
- Recommend the most effective and cost-conscious contracting strategies available.
Qualifications
- Eligibility for an active security clearance, as required for this position.
- Knowledge of federal acquisition processes consistent with the GS-1102-12 grade level.
- Familiarity with market research, acquisition planning, and contract administration.
- Understanding of contract law and its practical application to government contracting.
- Ability to work on-site in the US in a full-time capacity (this role is not remote).
