ICON is hiring a full-time Senior Construction Purchasing Agent I, MILCON in Austin, Travis County, to drive trade engagement, competitive bidding, and subcontractor management across Military Construction (MILCON) programs.
About the Role
As a Senior Construction Purchasing Agent I, MILCON at ICON, you will own the procurement lifecycle for MILCON projects inside an integrated Design-Build organization where ICON acts as both the designer and the general contractor. This on-site Austin position places you at the center of work that extends from early land development through vertical construction and final finish-out, spanning residential, commercial, and related project types.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead trade engagement, soliciting and qualifying subcontractors and suppliers for MILCON scopes of work.
- Manage the bidding process end to end, from issuing scope packages to leveling and analyzing competitive proposals.
- Negotiate and award subcontracts that align with project budgets, schedules, and design intent.
- Coordinate closely with design, estimating, and field teams to keep procurement aligned with the Design-Build delivery model.
- Support purchasing across all phases, from land development through vertical construction and finish-out.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction purchasing, procurement, or subcontract administration, ideally on MILCON or comparable large-scale projects.
- Strong command of bidding, trade engagement, and subcontracting workflows.
- Familiarity with the Design-Build approach and the coordination it requires between design and construction.
- Skilled negotiator with sharp attention to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Able to work on-site full-time in Austin, Travis County.
