About the Role
As an Authorizations & Referrals Specialist with our Island Surgeons team in Anacortes, you will support seamless patient care by coordinating insurance authorizations and managing specialty referrals. This day-shift, per diem position is ideal for a dependable, detail-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare setting and takes pride in helping patients navigate their care journey smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and process prior authorizations from insurance carriers for procedures, treatments, and services.
- Coordinate and track patient referrals to specialists and outside providers, ensuring timely follow-through.
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage requirements ahead of scheduled appointments.
- Communicate clearly with patients, providers, and payers to resolve authorization questions and avoid care delays.
- Maintain accurate, organized documentation within electronic health records and authorization systems.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to keep the referral and authorization workflow running efficiently.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with insurance authorization and referral processes, medical terminology, or prior experience in a clinical office is highly valued.
