About the Role

As a Civil Project Engineer II/III with Timmons Group, you will become a core contributor to our Charlottesville, VA traffic team, translating data and design ideas into safer, smarter transportation outcomes. This is a full-time, in-office position focused on the technical study and planning work that drives real-world infrastructure decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform operational and capacity analyses to evaluate how roadways and intersections function under current and future conditions.
• Lead and support corridor studies that assess mobility, safety, and efficiency along key transportation routes.
• Prepare detailed traffic studies that inform planning, design, and policy recommendations.
• Apply innovative intersection concepts and evaluate alternatives to improve flow and reduce conflict points.
• Collaborate with project teams, reviewers, and stakeholders to deliver accurate, well-documented findings.

Qualifications

• A degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, with experience appropriate to a Project Engineer II or III level.
• Working knowledge of traffic analysis methods, corridor and intersection studies, and transportation planning principles.
• Familiarity with industry-standard traffic modeling and analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills for presenting technical results clearly.
• Ability to work on-site in our Charlottesville City, Virginia office as part of a collaborative team.
