Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional – English Language Learners

Kansas City Public Schools is hiring a full-time Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional – English Language Learners to support multilingual students across classrooms in Kansas City, Jackson County. About the Role

As a Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional, you will partner closely with classroom teachers to deliver effective instructional support that meets the needs of students learning English. Working under the direction of the Building Administrator within the Instruction department, you will help create an inclusive environment where every learner can participate, grow, and reach grade-level goals. This is a non-exempt, full-time position based in Kansas City and is not remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in planning and carrying out instructional activities for English Language Learners.
• Provide bilingual support to help students understand lessons, directions, and classroom routines.
• Reinforce language development and academic skills through small-group and one-on-one assistance.
• Support communication between students, families, and staff when language barriers exist.
• Help maintain a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

• Bilingual proficiency to communicate effectively with English Language Learners and their families.
• A genuine commitment to supporting diverse student populations.
• Ability to work collaboratively under the guidance of classroom teachers and building leadership.
• Strong interpersonal, patience, and organizational skills suited to a school setting.

Compensation

This position is classified within salary grades Z03–Z05, with pay starting at $17.25 per hour. Refer to the Paraprofessional salary schedule for additional details.
