About the Role
As the Assistant Coach (Cross Country) at Capital Prep Harbor School Inc in Bridgeport, CT, you will partner with the head coach to develop a competitive, supportive cross country team. This full-time, on-site position blends athletic instruction with mentorship, helping scholars build endurance, discipline, and confidence both on the course and in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and running daily cross country practices, workouts, and conditioning sessions.
- Coach and motivate student-athletes on running technique, pacing, race strategy, and injury prevention.
- Support athletes at meets, invitationals, and team events throughout the 2026–2027 season.
- Promote sportsmanship, academic accountability, and personal growth in line with the school's mission.
- Help manage equipment, attendance, and team communication with scholars and families.
Qualifications
- Background in cross country, track and field, or distance running as an athlete and/or coach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and inspire high school student-athletes.
- Commitment to student safety, fairness, and a positive team culture.
- Availability to work a full-time schedule, including practices and meets, in Bridgeport, Fairfield County.
