About the Role

As the Middle School ALC Homeroom Teacher for grades 6 through 8, you will anchor an Alternative Learning Center classroom, serving as the daily point of connection for students who benefit from individualized attention and a supportive structure. This on-site position blends teaching with counseling-minded mentorship, making it ideal for an educator who is energized by building trust with adolescents and partnering closely with families and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a homeroom for middle school students in grades 6–8 within the Alternative Learning Center model.
• Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction tailored to the diverse needs of learners in a high-needs setting.
• Provide guidance and social-emotional support, drawing on school counseling practices to help students succeed.
• Monitor academic progress and behavior, adjusting strategies to keep each student engaged and on track.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and families to create a consistent, encouraging learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom culture.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching license appropriate for middle school instruction (grades 6–8); school counseling credentials are a strong asset.
• Experience working with middle school students, ideally in alternative or high-needs educational settings.
• Skill in differentiating instruction and applying positive, student-centered behavior support.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with students, families, and staff.
