Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Nightwing is seeking a Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in Sterling, Virginia, where you will help build a safer, more compliant workplace across our mission-driven operations.

About the Role

As a full-time Senior EHS Specialist based in Sterling, Virginia, you will take ownership of environmental, health, and safety programs that protect our people, facilities, and the communities we serve. This is an on-site position suited to a seasoned professional who can balance regulatory rigor with practical, day-to-day problem solving in a technically advanced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, programs, and procedures aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, document findings, and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
• Deliver training and guidance that build a strong, proactive culture of safety across teams.
• Track compliance metrics, prepare reports, and support regulatory submissions and recordkeeping.
• Partner with operations, facilities, and leadership to embed safe practices into everyday work.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in an environmental, health, and safety role, with the seniority to lead programs independently.
• Working knowledge of applicable EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Strong analytical skills for assessing risk and translating findings into actionable improvements.
• Clear communication and training abilities to engage employees at every level.
• Ability to work on-site in Sterling, Virginia in a full-time capacity.
