About the Role

As a Workplace Safety Specialist with Hennepin County, you will partner with Public Works and other county departments to deliver comprehensive safety programs that reduce workplace injuries, prevent operational losses, and ensure a compliant, healthy environment for staff and residents alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver workplace safety services across multiple county departments and lines of business
• Identify hazards and develop proactive strategies to minimize injury risk and prevent losses
• Support compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards
• Collaborate with Public Works teams and other divisions to embed safety practices into daily operations
• Promote a culture of health, safety, and accountability throughout the organization

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in workplace safety, occupational health, or a closely related field
• Familiarity with safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and loss prevention practices
• Ability to build effective working relationships across diverse departments and teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate safety requirements into practical guidance
