Day-to-Day Responsibilities Follow a structured training plan covering vehicle handling, route familiarisation and passenger care standards. Conduct pre-journey vehicle checks covering lights, tyres, doors and accessibility equipment. Drive designated services on time while observing all road-traffic and company safety rules. Assist passengers of every age and mobility level with boarding, seating and alighting. Issue correct tickets or validate smart-cards and handle cash or card payments accurately. Keep the interior clean and report any mechanical or interior defects promptly. Provide clear, courteous information about stops, delays or connections. Collaborate with depot teams to maintain schedule adherence and handover duties at shift end. Skills & Qualifications Full UK car driving licence held for the minimum period required for professional training. Willingness to study for and pass the full passenger-carrying vehicle theory and practical examinations. Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, patient approach under time pressure. Reliable timekeeping, a clean professional manner and the physical fitness needed for the medical standard. Ability to remain focused for extended periods and respond constructively to instructions from trainers and supervisors. Basic numeracy for fare handling and literacy for reading maps, notices and incident forms. Commitment to equal treatment of every passenger and to continuous safety improvement.
