Role Overview In this senior leadership role, you will direct the formulation and hands-on execution of commercial partnership strategies for a group of companies within the Flagship Pioneering ecosystem. Your primary focus: closing high-value transactions between these ventures and pharma partners. Embedded within company leadership teams, you will maintain high visibility while driving consistent opportunity identification and pipeline development across the ecosystem. This is an opportunity to directly influence how transformative biotechnologies move from lab to market and ultimately improve human health. Your Responsibilities Design and implement business development strategy for assigned portfolio companies, with accountability for sustained deal flow and partnership identification Work cross-functionally with R&D, strategy, intellectual property, legal, and finance teams to understand platform capabilities, evaluate partnership readiness, and negotiate terms Advise company CEOs and senior teams on commercial strategy and long-term planning, identifying deal opportunities that drive enterprise value Identify and map the pharmaceutical and biotechnology landscape, determining which partners align with company objectives and capabilities Lead all phases of partnership development—from prospect identification and qualitative assessment through diligence and final agreement execution Build and communicate compelling narratives around proprietary technologies and their commercial applications to both internal stakeholders and external audiences Partner with R&D leadership to evaluate early-stage programs through a commercial lens, embedding partnership strategy into preclinical and discovery research efforts Requirements Minimum 12 years' professional experience in business development, strategy, or related disciplines within pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries Documented track record of successfully negotiating and closing significant sell-side transactions with pharma and biotech partners Advanced degree (PhD, MD) strongly preferred; MBA is considered a plus Senior executive leadership experience with the ability to build influence and operate effectively across functions, organizations, and stakeholder groups Hands-on experience with early-stage biotech platforms (Series A and B companies), including small molecules, RNA therapeutics, protein biologics, or related…
