About the Role
Tiger Tutor is a social enterprise operated by the Chinese Mutual Aid Association, and we are seeking a part-time Test Prep Instructor to help students in the Chicago area build the skills and confidence they need for major standardized exams. This is a 1099 contract position with flexible hours, making it ideal for educators looking to balance teaching with other commitments. Compensation is set at $17 per hour for paid preparation time and $24 per hour for active instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach students through preparation for standardized assessments, including the ACT, SAT, PSAT, and CPS exams.
- Design and lead engaging instructional sessions tailored to each student's goals and skill level.
- Complete paid preparation work, such as planning lessons and reviewing test content, ahead of instruction.
- Track student progress and adjust teaching strategies to strengthen weak areas.
- Foster a supportive learning environment that keeps students motivated and on pace.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with one or more standardized tests, such as the ACT, SAT, PSAT, or CPS exams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly to students.
- Comfort working independently as a 1099 contractor with flexible scheduling.
- A genuine commitment to student achievement and community-focused education.
