The University of Southern California is hiring a full-time, on-site Technical Theatre Manager in Los Angeles to anchor production operations at the USC School of Dramatic Arts. Step into a hands-on leadership role supporting one of the country's busiest university theatre programs, centered on the renowned Bing Theatre.
About the Role
As Technical Theatre Manager, you will join the School's Production Area and serve as a key collaborator in delivering a full slate of student and faculty productions. Your primary focus is the Bing Theatre — the School's largest and most technically demanding performance space — where you will coordinate the technical systems and logistics that bring each show to the stage in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day technical operations of the Bing Theatre and supporting production spaces.
- Partner with directors, designers, faculty, and student crews to plan and execute mountings across the season.
- Manage scheduling, equipment, and venue readiness for rehearsals, performances, and events.
- Maintain a safe, well-organized, and efficient production environment for one of the nation's most active university programs.
- Contribute technical expertise and mentorship within the School's collaborative Production Area.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience in technical theatre or production management.
- Familiarity with the demands of a high-volume, complex performance venue.
- A team-oriented, collaborative approach to working with artists, staff, and students.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple productions simultaneously.
- Availability to work on-site in Los Angeles in a full-time capacity.
