Tradewinds Support Partners, a local structural steel contractor, is hiring a Steel Erection / Iron Worker - Connector for full-time work in Altoona, Blair County. As a connector, you'll be a critical member of our raising crew, positioning and securing structural steel components at height on active construction projects throughout the region. Role Overview This is a hands-on ironworking position where you'll work as a structural connector—one of the skilled members of our raising gang responsible for receiving, aligning, and temporarily fastening steel beams into place on buildings and infrastructure projects. Your expertise in connector work will ensure our structural systems go up safely and precisely, on time and to specification. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Receive and position structural steel beams and columns at elevated heights Align structural elements to blueprints and surveyor marks using levels and measuring tools Install temporary bolts and bolted connections to hold structural steel in place during assembly Collaborate with connectors and bolters on raising crews to coordinate beam placement Verify proper alignment and spacing before permanent installation by our welders and ironworkers Work safely at heights, observing all OSHA and jobsite safety protocols Read and interpret steel erection plans and blueprints accurately What You Bring Documented experience as an ironworker with proven connector experience Comfort and competence working at elevated heights on structural systems Proficiency in installing bolted connections and temporary shoring Ability to read structural plans, blueprints, and dimensions accurately Welding experience or certification (a strong advantage) Physical capability to lift, carry, position, and secure heavy steel elements Strong communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced crews Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites More About Tradewinds Support Partners We're a local structural steel contractor committed to delivering high-quality ironwork on time and safely.
