Classified as a Natural Resource Specialist III (Pay Band 4), this position works directly on the ground in Buckingham County, Virginia, and is open to the general public. The advertised hiring range is $44,192.00–$65,000.00.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the ongoing management and care of the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest and its nearly 19,513 acres.
• Carry out practical forestry and natural resource activities across the property.
• Support sustainable management practices that protect and enhance the long-term health of the forest.
• Contribute to the stewardship goals of the Virginia Department of Forestry on state-owned land.

Qualifications

• Background or strong interest in forestry, natural resource management, or a closely related field appropriate to a Natural Resource Specialist III.
• Ability to perform field-based work outdoors across a large forested property.
• Commitment to the responsible, sustainable management of public forestland.
• Willingness to be based on-site in Buckingham County, Virginia (this is not a remote role).
