Republic Services is hiring a remote Sr Payroll Tax Analyst (PST) to take ownership of multi-state payroll tax setup, coordination, and reconciliation while supporting the Western Region across the United States. About the Role As a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst, you will partner with Corporate and Field divisions to surface, examine, document, and report payroll tax and accounting matters with precision. Working closely with federal, state, and municipal agencies as well as Republic Services' payroll processing partners, you'll keep multi-jurisdictional tax obligations accurate, compliant, and on schedule. This is a fully remote position aligned to Pacific Standard Time and the Western Region. Key Responsibilities Prepare and support the filing of payroll tax returns and related reports with accuracy. Review data continuously to confirm the correct tax amounts are paid, and maintain current tax rates and IDs. Issue timely payments via check, electronic submission, or wire transfer, keeping thorough backup documentation. Track jurisdictional inquiries and tax applications through to resolution. Run independent audits to safeguard data integrity, partner with the Front End processing team to fix errors, and design more efficient auditing methods. Document Smart Compliance fallout and employee tax transfers, and own the review of fringe benefit processing. Follow due-date calendars, SOPs, and work instructions while identifying ways to streamline and add value. Support miscellaneous projects as assigned. Qualifications At least 3 years of payroll and/or payroll tax and compliance experience. Working knowledge of payroll tax law, including registering and maintaining state payroll tax accounts. Firm grasp of the payroll lifecycle, amendments, and taxable wages. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, plus experience with ADP Smart Compliance and Workday. Clear communicator across all organizational levels, with strong time management and the ability to work independently. Sharp attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, discretion, and a stakeholder-first mindset under competing deadlines. Multi-state payroll tax experience and CPP or FPC certification preferred. The posted pay range is $75,100.00 - $112,700.00 USD annually, depending on experience.
