SPED Teacher

Pittsylvania County Schools is seeking a dedicated SPED Teacher to join our team in Chatham, Pittsylvania County, supporting students with diverse learning needs through specialized, individualized instruction.

About the Role

As a full-time Special Education Teacher with Pittsylvania County Schools, you will design and deliver instruction tailored to each learner, helping students with disabilities reach their academic and developmental goals. This is an on-site, 200-day position based in Chatham, Virginia, reporting to the building Principal and/or another assigned supervisor. The role is classified as exempt under FLSA guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the ongoing review and development of curriculum that meets the needs of special education students.
• Apply a range of proven instructional strategies that align with clearly defined lesson objectives.
• Assess and evaluate student progress, using results to guide and adjust instruction.
• Develop and implement individualized learning plans in accordance with each student's requirements.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and support personnel to promote student success.
• Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Hold valid and appropriate state certification for special education teaching.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and adapt instruction for students with varied learning profiles.
• Strong skills in assessing student needs and translating findings into effective teaching practice.
• Commitment to collaboration with colleagues, administrators, and families.
