BRU Burger in Carmel, Hamilton County is seeking a talented, full-time Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Crg Dining — a hands-on leadership role at the heart of a high-energy kitchen.

About the Role

As Sous Chef at BRU Burger Carmel, you'll serve as a cornerstone of daily kitchen operations, translating recipes, standards, and culinary vision into consistent, guest-ready execution. You'll partner closely with senior kitchen leadership to uphold quality and drive a team-first culture on every shift.

What You'll Do

  • Execute kitchen operations in full alignment with established recipes, specifications, and quality standards
  • Lead, coach, and develop line cooks and kitchen staff — building skill, confidence, and accountability across the team
  • Monitor food quality, plating consistency, and ticket times to deliver an exceptional guest experience every service
  • Step into a managerial capacity during shifts, coordinating station assignments and maintaining kitchen flow
  • Support inventory management, food cost awareness, and waste reduction practices
  • Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with local and state regulations
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with both front-of-house and back-of-house team members
  • Contribute to a respectful, high-performing kitchen culture rooted in teamwork and hospitality

What We're Looking For

  • Proven culinary experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with prior supervisory or lead cook responsibility
  • A genuine passion for coaching and developing kitchen talent
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to direct a team calmly under pressure
  • Business awareness — understanding how kitchen decisions affect food cost, labor, and the guest experience
  • Deep respect for teammates, guests, and the craft of cooking
  • Ability to follow detailed culinary guidelines while bringing energy and ownership to every shift
  • Food Handler or ServSafe certification preferred
