Based in Toronto with hybrid flexibility, you'll receive structured mentorship, work on real features from your first sprint, engage in code review processes, and progressively tackle more complex challenges. Our team emphasises curiosity, partnership, and a genuine commitment to growing as engineers. Your Responsibilities Develop features spanning the entire software stack: mobile point-of-sale applications (Kotlin), backend services (Kotlin/Java), and customer-facing web applications (React/TypeScript). Build and maintain RESTful backend services and understand their integration with Toast's broader platform. Create interfaces and features for internal tools and customer-facing web products using React and TypeScript. Write and maintain automated tests (unit and integration) to ensure code quality and system stability. Give and receive code review feedback, strengthening both the codebase and your own technical growth. Work alongside product, design, and quality engineering teams to deliver solutions addressing diverse regional markets. Complete onboarding codelabs covering backend and frontend systems to establish foundational knowledge. Learn Toast's infrastructure, deployment pipelines, continuous integration practices, and feature flag systems including LaunchDarkly. Maintain clear documentation in Jira and Confluence aligned with agile team processes. Adopt AI-assisted development tools to strengthen your coding efficiency and contribute to a culture of innovation. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on professional experience. Solid grounding in at least one backend programming language such as Kotlin, Java, Python, or similar object-oriented language.
