ABB is hiring a Shaft CNC Machining Operator for our 2nd Shift team in Columbus, Lowndes County — a full-time, on-site role for a precision-minded machinist who takes pride in quality manufacturing.
About the Role
As a Shaft CNC Machining Operator on the 2nd Shift at ABB in Columbus, Lowndes County, you will set up, operate, and monitor CNC machining equipment to produce shafts and related components. Reporting to the 2nd Shift Production Supervisor, you'll play a hands-on part in helping industries run leaner and cleaner, contributing directly to the products that keep the world moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and adjust CNC machining equipment to manufacture shaft components to specification
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings to ensure correct production
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain accuracy and tight tolerances
- Inspect finished parts for quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized
- Follow all safety procedures and quality standards throughout the 2nd Shift
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience operating CNC machining equipment, ideally on shaft or similar turned components
- Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and measurement instruments
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- Availability to work the 2nd Shift on a full-time basis in Columbus, Lowndes County
- A collaborative, safety-first approach to manufacturing
