Leidos is hiring a Senior Transmission Line Engineer in Somerset, Hillsdale County, to take the lead on intricate overhead transmission line programs within our Energy & Utilities Engineering & Design group.
About the Role
As a Senior Transmission Line Engineer at Leidos, you will guide overhead line projects from the earliest planning stages through to completed construction documentation. Based on-site in Somerset, Hillsdale County, this full-time position combines hands-on technical design with project leadership, giving you ownership over engineering decisions that shape critical electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design of complex overhead transmission line projects, from route selection through final construction packages.
- Build and analyze line models using PLS-CADD to support accurate, efficient design outcomes.
- Verify that all designs satisfy NESC requirements and applicable utility engineering standards.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship across the project lifecycle.
- Perform thorough quality reviews of design deliverables to maintain engineering excellence.
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and client stakeholders to align on project goals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience engineering overhead transmission line systems at a senior level.
- Working proficiency with PLS-CADD modeling software.
- Strong command of NESC code and utility design standards.
- Proven ability to lead technical efforts and conduct rigorous design quality reviews.
- Excellent coordination skills for partnering with cross-functional and client teams.
