About the Role As a Senior Staff Developer at Benevity, you'll bring deep hands-on full stack development and architecture expertise to bear across multiple teams and layers of our engineering organization. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you'll help define and deliver technical strategy, partnering closely with Principal Architects to set direction through resilient, reusable, and extendable patterns. Key Responsibilities Lead full stack solution design for cross-domain initiatives on public cloud platforms. Apply expertise in areas such as data processing and lifecycle management, multi-region data distribution and compliance, data quality and observability, content and digital asset management, personalized search and indexing, or domain-driven design. Embed security best practices throughout the stack using cloud-native design. Author and maintain architecture documentation, decision records, and implementation guides. Boost team velocity, agility, and time to market by championing industry-standard tools and processes. Prototype proofs of concept that advance both technology and product. Mentor staff and senior developers through practical examples, constructive feedback, and an inclusive, collaborative culture. Translate business needs into technical specifications alongside product managers and fellow engineers. Qualifications 8+ years building scalable software, with 2+ years leading modernization or transformation efforts. Strong command of software architecture and domain-driven design using an API-first, event-driven, loosely coupled approach. Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and Python (FastAPI), with a focus on performant, cost-effective products. Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure across AWS and GCP, plus CI/CD tooling like GitHub Actions and Jenkins. Enterprise data engineering and integration skills spanning relational, document, and warehouse engines. Deep knowledge of DevSecOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and automated testing for secure, reliable delivery. A commitment to ethical, secure AI-driven development practices and to eliminating technical debt. Excellent communication, comfort with ambiguity, and a growth mindset.
