About Mercury
Mercury
The Memphis Group burst onto the scene in the early 1980s with a belief that design could be more than purely functional — it could be bold, expressive, and deeply human. They expanded what design could be, embracing color, emotion, and personality at a time when clarity and restraint dominated. That same spirit of possibility, of questioning defaults and reimagining what tools can feel like, still resonates today.
At Mercury, we’re building *banking for builders. Entrepreneurs who are on the go and need to manage their business from anywhere. We’re rethinking what financial tools can feel like when they’re designed with real people in mind: fast, expressive, and thoughtfully crafted from the ground up.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help define what modern banking* should feel like for founders on the go. Mercury’s mobile apps are fully native — iOS and Android — built by a senior, long-tenured engineering team that’s capable of executing almost anything you can design. The opportunity here isn’t to port the web experience to mobile. It’s to define what Mercury on mobile should actually be.
*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.
What you’ll do
- Own the holistic vision and craft of Mercury’s native iOS and Android experience
- Push the fidelity of what’s possible in a native-first environment — interaction design, motion, visual language
- Shape a clear mobile POV and advocate for it across a decentralized, cross-functional design model
- Partner closely with a highly senior engineering team to elevate quality and raise the bar
- Lead major initiatives from concept through launch, and see your work used by real businesses immediately
- Raise the quality bar for interaction, visual design, and product thinking across the team
- Contribute to our design systems and help evolve patterns across platforms
What we’re looking for
- 6-8+ years designing high-quality product experiences, with meaningful time spent on native mobile (iOS and/or Android)
- Experience designing complex systems, not just individual screens
- A sharp, distinct visual sensibility — you have a point of view, and it shows in your work
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and low-oversight environments; you move things forward without being pushed
- Strong communicator who can build trust with cross-functional partners and advocate for design direction
- Someone who geeks out on what’s uniquely possible in a native environment — you would rather start over than build on a React Native foundation
