Mercor is hiring a Senior Materials Engineer to evaluate AI model performance in materials science, develop original problem sets, and annotate tasks with detailed insights. The role requires a PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field, or equivalent experience and expertise in phase equilibria, mechanical behavior, crystallography, polymers, or characterization. The position is contract-based, remote, with a flexible schedule.
Requirements
- PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field; MS with 3+ years experience; or BS with 5+ years experience
- Working fluency in at least two of: phase equilibria, mechanical behavior, crystallography, polymers, or characterization (XRD, SEM, TEM)
- Comfortable interpreting micrographs, diffraction patterns, and property charts
