The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical and Tunneling Team at WSP. This role is based in Huntington, Fairfield County, though positions within our broader network of New England offices—including locations in Boston, North Providence, Glastonbury, Worcester, Shelton, Merrimack, and other regional centers—may also be available based on project needs and fit. You will lead technical analysis, field investigations, and engineering solutions that support critical infrastructure development across the region. Responsibilities Perform and coordinate field observations, geotechnical investigations, and special inspections for infrastructure and development projects Lead subsurface exploration programs and direct boring and sampling operations Analyze and interpret geotechnical data, boring logs, and laboratory test results Develop geotechnical reports and engineering recommendations for foundation design and tunneling applications Provide technical oversight and quality assurance during construction and specialty inspection phases Collaborate across disciplines to solve complex ground and foundation engineering challenges Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent professional standing Substantial experience in geotechnical engineering, foundation design, or tunneling projects Proficiency in subsurface investigation methods, soil mechanics, and geotechnical analysis Demonstrated project leadership and communication skills Familiarity with geotechnical design software and industry-standard analytical tools More About WSP WSP is a leading professional services firm providing engineering and consulting solutions for infrastructure, energy, transportation, water, and development projects.
