About the Role
As a Senior Associate, BESS Modeling & Structuring at Clearway Energy, you will design and refine sophisticated quantitative models that power battery energy storage system (BESS) valuation, structured product pricing, gas generation optimization, and broader power market analysis. A central focus of the position is contributing to Clearway's proprietary internal analytics platform, CWENQuant, and advancing the firm's BESS dispatch optimization capabilities. This is a hands-on, modeling-intensive role based in our Denver office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality quantitative models supporting BESS valuation and revenue forecasting.
- Price structured products and analyze gas generation optimization opportunities.
- Build and enhance components of Clearway's internal modeling platform, CWENQuant.
- Create advanced battery dispatch optimization tools to inform commercial decisions.
- Conduct rigorous power market analysis to support strategy and structuring efforts.
Qualifications
- Strong quantitative modeling experience, ideally applied to energy storage, power markets, or structured energy products.
- Proficiency in optimization techniques and the development of dispatch or valuation models.
- Solid understanding of power market dynamics and gas generation economics.
- Ability to translate complex market mechanics into robust, scalable analytical tools.
- Comfort collaborating on an internal quantitative platform such as CWENQuant.
