Senior Architect

Surgence is hiring a Senior Architect to join its US-based team and shape the technical foundation of a cloud-native platform transforming how healthcare supply chains operate.

About the Role

As a Senior Architect at Surgence, you will own the end-to-end design of a sophisticated, multi-sided platform that connects providers, distributors, and suppliers across the healthcare supply chain. You will set the architectural direction for core capabilities — including connectivity frameworks, analytics pipelines, alerting systems, and workflow automation — and ensure the platform scales reliably as the business grows. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the United States.

What You'll Do

• Define and govern the overall system architecture for Surgence's cloud-based ecosystem, establishing patterns and standards that engineering teams adopt across the platform.
• Lead design reviews for major features, APIs, and integrations, identifying trade-offs between scalability, maintainability, performance, and cost.
• Drive architectural decisions around data ingestion, advanced analytics, and real-time alerting capabilities that serve providers, distributors, and suppliers.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations stakeholders to translate complex healthcare supply chain requirements into sound technical solutions.
• Evaluate emerging cloud services and third-party integrations, recommending adoption where it strengthens platform flexibility or accelerates delivery.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, elevating architectural thinking across the development organization.
• Ensure security, compliance, and resilience considerations are built into designs from the outset, not retrofitted.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a dedicated architecture or principal-engineer capacity.
• Proven track record designing and delivering large-scale, cloud-based distributed systems — ideally on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Deep expertise in integration architecture, including APIs, event-driven systems, and data exchange patterns relevant to multi-party supply chain or healthcare environments.
• Strong command of analytics platform design, workflow orchestration, and alerting systems at enterprise scale.
• Experience navigating complex stakeholder landscapes and translating business objectives into coherent technical roadmaps.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting architectural proposals to both engineering and executive audiences.
• Background in healthcare IT, health-tech SaaS, or supply chain technology is a strong advantage.
