Security Officer (Full-Time)

Washington Adventist University is hiring a full-time Security Officer in Chillum, Prince George's County, to help safeguard students, staff, and visitors across a welcoming, faith-based campus community.

About the Role

As a Security Officer at Washington Adventist University, you will join the Safety & Security department and report directly to the Director of Security. This non-exempt, hourly position centers on maintaining a secure and orderly environment, supporting the university's commitment to a culture of excellence where every member of the community feels valued and protected. The role is based on campus in Chillum, Prince George's County, and is not remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol campus grounds, buildings, and parking areas to deter and detect security concerns.
• Monitor entrances and respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and requests for assistance.
• Enforce university safety policies and procedures in a courteous, professional manner.
• Document observations, incidents, and activity in accurate written reports.
• Coordinate with the Director of Security and local emergency services as needed.
• Provide a visible, reassuring presence that supports the safety of students, employees, and guests.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work full-time, on-site in Chillum, Prince George's County, Maryland.
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment in evaluating and responding to situations.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting and daily interaction.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively during emergencies.
• Willingness to support and respect the values of a Christ-centered university community.
