About the Role We're looking for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in SAP's payroll modules to architect and execute comprehensive payroll configurations. You'll own end-to-end setup responsibilities—from designing tax models to establishing general ledger posting logic and calculating gross-ups. Your technical depth in U.S. payroll rules, combined with your ability to work autonomously or alongside senior consultants, makes you the right fit for implementations ranging from enterprise rollouts to smaller configuration engagements. You'll also serve as a backup resource for the lead consultant on key deliverables and take point on select smaller-scale projects. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Execute hands-on SAP Payroll configuration tasks—tax models, wage types, general ledger postings, gross-up calculations—aligned with detailed design documents and business needs Optimize core payroll processes including gross-to-net calculations, tax compliance and reporting, garnishment administration, third-party remittance processing, year-end close procedures, and accrual accounting setup Lead smaller payroll implementations from configuration through testing and deployment phases Run parallel payroll tests, diagnose issues, and troubleshoot integration problems with upstream and downstream systems Develop custom payroll operations, configuration rules, and user exits as required by business requirements Integrate payroll configurations with SAP Finance, Time and Attendance, Benefits, Compensation, and external systems—working closely with integration specialists Document testing scenarios, training materials, and post-implementation support artifacts; communicate project status, risks, and blockers to stakeholders and leadership Apply system updates and support packs to maintain system health and regulatory compliance Qualifications Minimum 7+ years of direct, hands-on experience configuring SAP Payroll (ECP or HCM modules) with specialization in United States payroll Demonstrated expertise in tax model architecture, BSI Tax Factory workflows, wage type and payroll catalog configuration, general ledger posting logic, gross-up calculations, off-cycle payroll processing, garnishment setup, and month-end accrual accounting Successful completion of at least 3 end-to-end SAP Payroll implementation lifecycles Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience collaborating with…
