As a Safety Engineer with Hensel Phelps at Fort Bliss, El Paso County, you will champion a proactive safety culture on active building and facility projects. This on-site, full-time position places you at the center of daily operations, where your judgment directly protects field crews, subcontractors, and the integrity of every build.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce safe work practices across construction and facility activities at the Fort Bliss site.
- Conduct routine inspections, hazard assessments, and job-site walkthroughs to identify and resolve risks early.
- Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and project-specific safety regulations.
- Partner with project teams and subcontractors to deliver safety briefings, training, and ongoing guidance.
- Document incidents, investigate root causes, and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications
- Background or training relevant to construction safety, occupational health, or a related engineering discipline.
- Ability to work on-site full-time at Fort Bliss in El Paso County (this role is not remote).
- Strong communication skills to engage workers and leadership alike on safety priorities.
- Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, which may include verification of work authorization and employment eligibility, substance abuse screening, a physical exam where applicable, and background checks for badging or security clearances where applicable.
