Down Home North Carolina is hiring a full-time Rowan County Election Canvasser in Salisbury, Rowan County, to connect directly with neighbors and help power our grassroots 2026 field campaigns.
About the Role
As a Rowan County Election Canvasser with Down Home North Carolina, you will be the face of our movement in Salisbury and across Rowan County's small towns. This on-the-ground, full-time position centers on talking with everyday residents about the 2026 elections — helping them understand what is on the ballot and the details of when and where to vote. It is people-first work for anyone who believes North Carolina should work for every working family.
Key Responsibilities
- Knock doors and meet voters face-to-face throughout Rowan County to share election information.
- Educate community members about upcoming 2026 races, voting locations, and key dates.
- Build genuine, trusting relationships with residents in Salisbury and surrounding small towns.
- Support Down Home's field campaigns backing candidates who reflect our shared values.
- Record canvassing conversations and outreach activity accurately for the field team.
Qualifications
- A passion for civic engagement and expanding access to voting in working-class communities.
- Strong, approachable communication skills and comfort talking with people you have not met.
- Reliability and the stamina for active, in-person outreach across Rowan County.
- Alignment with Down Home North Carolina's vision of a state that works for all working people.
- Availability for a full-time, on-site role based in Salisbury, Rowan County (this position is not remote).
