Project Manager

Layton Construction Company is hiring a full-time Project Manager to lead complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout at its Tampa, Hillsborough County operations.

About the Role

As a Project Manager with Layton Construction Company in Tampa, you will own the full lifecycle of construction projects — driving safety, schedule, budget, and quality outcomes while serving as the central point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, and field teams. This is a hands-on leadership position for a builder who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional results.

What You'll Do

• Direct the planning, scheduling, and on-site execution of complex commercial construction projects in the Tampa Bay area
• Serve as the primary liaison between project owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal field leadership throughout all project phases
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and procurement logs to keep work on track and within scope
• Lead subcontractor selection, bid analysis, scope negotiations, and contract administration
• Manage the RFI, submittal, and change order processes with accuracy and timeliness
• Enforce site safety standards and ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety protocols
• Prepare and present accurate project status reports, cost forecasts, and risk assessments to stakeholders
• Collaborate with superintendents and field crews to resolve constructability issues and maintain project momentum
• Support project closeout, punch list completion, and owner turnover documentation

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related discipline
• Proven experience managing commercial construction projects from start to finish, ideally in the Florida market
• Solid command of construction scheduling software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar) and project management platforms
• Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, subcontract administration, and cost control principles
• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse project teams and manage multiple stakeholder relationships simultaneously
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
• OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred
