About the Role

As a Project/Automation Engineer II at Jabil Devens, you will take ownership of automation engineering projects from initial concept through final commissioning. Working within a dynamic manufacturing environment, you'll collaborate across engineering, operations, and quality functions to design, deploy, and continuously improve automated production systems that support Jabil's high-volume, precision manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do

• Lead end-to-end automation projects, including scope definition, equipment specification, vendor selection, installation, and validation
• Design, program, and troubleshoot automated systems — including PLCs, robotics, machine vision, and motion control platforms
• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and capital expenditure justifications to support leadership decision-making
• Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to identify process bottlenecks and translate them into automation solutions
• Conduct root cause analyses on automation failures and implement corrective actions to restore and improve system uptime
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including specifications, work instructions, and validation protocols
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating emerging automation technologies for potential site adoption

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
• Demonstrated experience in an automation or project engineering role within a manufacturing environment
• Hands-on proficiency with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) and familiarity with robotics integration
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent engineering projects with competing priorities and deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to troubleshooting complex automated systems
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, and supply chain teams
• Experience with machine vision systems, servo/motion control, or capital equipment procurement is a plus
