Jacobs is growing its Transmission & Distribution practice across North America, and we're seeking a Principal Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to join our Energy & Power Group in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity to shape critical infrastructure during one of the most pivotal periods in the history of the power sector.

About the Role

As a Principal Overhead Transmission Line Engineer at Jacobs, you'll bring senior technical leadership to overhead transmission line projects, helping clients navigate decarbonization and the broader transformation of the grid. Based in Charlotte, you'll serve as a go-to expert whose decisions guide design quality, delivery, and long-term reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and design of overhead transmission line projects from concept through completion.
• Provide principal-level technical direction and quality oversight across the Transmission & Distribution portfolio.
• Support utility clients in addressing decarbonization goals and evolving grid demands.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams, sharing expertise to strengthen project outcomes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the Energy & Power Group to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Extensive, senior-level experience in overhead transmission line engineering and design.
• Deep familiarity with Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects and industry standards.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to direct complex engineering efforts.
• A background that supports work on decarbonization and grid modernization initiatives.
• Willingness to work on-site in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County.
