Principal Applications Engineer

About the Role

As a Principal Applications Engineer based on-site in Charlotte, you will serve as a senior technical authority, partnering with customers, sales teams, and product groups to translate complex requirements into reliable, high-performing packaging applications. This full-time position blends deep engineering expertise with hands-on problem solving to bring Sealed Air's materials, equipment, and systems to life in real-world production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, testing, and implementation of packaging applications tailored to customer specifications.
• Provide expert technical guidance throughout product development, integration, and on-site commissioning.
• Troubleshoot equipment and material performance issues, identifying root causes and durable solutions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams to optimize application outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and act as a subject-matter resource on application best practices and standards.
• Document technical findings and recommend improvements that advance quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
• Extensive, progressive experience in applications, process, or product engineering, ideally within packaging or manufacturing.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a record of solving complex technical challenges.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities across both technical and customer-facing settings.
• Willingness to work on-site in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, with occasional travel as projects require.
