This full-time opportunity is designed for a senior architect who can define scalable, production-ready agent-based artificial intelligence systems tailored to specialized domain needs. Position Summary As Principal AI Architect - Agentic Verticals at Zoom, you will shape the long-range technical direction for agentic AI platforms that serve distinct vertical workflows. You will convert complex product and business challenges into durable multi-agent architectures, set reusable design standards for engineering teams, and act as a primary authority on how autonomous and tool-using agents are structured, governed, and evolved. The position is tied to 2 Locations and emphasizes strategic architecture leadership rather than day-to-day feature coding alone. Key Responsibilities Create end-to-end reference architectures for multi-agent systems, planning loops, and tool-augmented AI workflows aimed at vertical-specific outcomes. Define evaluation criteria, reliability bars, and integration patterns that product and platform teams can consistently apply. Collaborate with product, research, and engineering partners to keep agent designs aligned with roadmap priorities and operational limits. Assess emerging models, orchestration frameworks, and infrastructure choices for building dependable agent platforms at scale. Advise teams on safety, observability, failure handling, and continuous improvement practices for agents running in real environments. Mentor senior engineers and peer architects on agent design principles, trade-offs, and decision documentation. Contribute architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy for agent-driven capabilities across the organization. Requirements Substantial experience as a principal or staff-level AI architect, ML systems architect, or equivalent senior technical leader focused on large-scale intelligent systems. Deep working knowledge of agent frameworks, planning and reflection loops, tool use, retrieval-augmented patterns, and multi-agent coordination. Demonstrated success setting architecture direction that moves AI platforms from prototype through reliable production operation. Strong background designing solutions that connect foundation models with enterprise data, APIs, and service boundaries. Clear technical communication skills that work effectively with both engineering teams and executive stakeholders. Hands-on familiarity with contemporary ML and AI engineering practices used to build, measure, and operate agentic applications.
