As we scale nationally, you'll manage people functions that directly shape employee experience and organizational health across all our locations. About This Position This role sits at the center of our people operations function, working alongside our Director of People Operations to keep our HR systems, processes, and compliance programs running smoothly as we grow. Over the past three years, TopDog Law has expanded consistently, and we're now building the operational backbone to sustain that momentum at national scale. You'll own meaningful HR work that has immediate impact on employee experience and culture. This is an opportunity to shape how a growing firm manages its people as it expands across new markets and regions. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Administer all employee leaves of absence—including FMLA, ADA, state-mandated leave, and military leave—from intake through return-to-work, ensuring compliance across all jurisdictions where we operate Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns and workplace issues, handling each with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment Conduct and support investigations into employee complaints, policy violations, and workplace conflicts in partnership with our leadership team Maintain current employment policies, handbooks, and compliance postings across all active states Partner with managers to provide clear guidance on performance concerns, accommodations, and consistent policy application across the organization Document, standardize, and improve HR processes and workflows to run reliably and efficiently Administer our HRIS platform, maintaining accurate employee records and managing lifecycle updates for payroll and reporting Coordinate with payroll on accuracy, employee changes, and leave tracking Lead pre-onboarding calls for new hires, covering company culture, benefits, key systems, and tools Requirements 5+ years of hands-on experience owning meaningful People Operations responsibilities Direct expertise administering leaves of absence under FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave laws Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, conducting investigations, and documenting sensitive matters Working knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements across multiple states Proven ability to build, document, and improve workflows and operational processes Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential…
