Penn State Health is seeking a Part-Time Palliative Medicine Physician - Lancaster to join our team in Bausman, Lancaster County. About the Role This position provides compassionate, interdisciplinary palliative care to patients with serious illnesses across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains to develop individualized care plans that align with patients’ goals and values. What You'll Do Conduct comprehensive assessments of pain, symptom burden, and psychosocial needs for patients with life-limiting conditions. Facilitate goals‑of‑care discussions, advance care planning, and shared decision‑making with patients and families. Coordinate seamless transitions between hospital, clinic, home, and hospice environments. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Provide education and mentorship to residents, fellows, and other clinicians on palliative medicine principles. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and adhere to Penn State Health compliance standards. What We're Looking For Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution. Board certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license (or eligibility to obtain). Completed fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine or equivalent clinical experience. Strong communication skills and a patient‑centered approach to care. Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, team‑based model.
