Vernon Hills Park District is hiring a full-time Park Maintenance team member in Indian Creek, Lake County, to help keep our parks safe, clean, and welcoming for the community we serve.
About the Role
As a Park Maintenance employee with Vernon Hills Park District, you'll take hands-on ownership of the grounds and facilities that make our parks a place residents love to visit. This seasonal, full-time position in Indian Creek, Lake County, generally runs from May through August and combines outdoor labor with friendly, day-to-day contact with the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a range of park and building upkeep tasks to maintain, repair, and improve Park District property
- Keep park grounds, structures, and amenities clean, functional, and presentable throughout the season
- Complete general labor duties that support the appearance and safety of district sites
- Engage courteously with park visitors during daily work
- Politely inform patrons of district rules and ordinances that apply within park property
- Report to the assigned supervisor and assist with additional maintenance needs as they arise
Qualifications
- Willingness to perform physical, hands-on labor outdoors in varying weather conditions
- A dependable, self-motivated approach to maintenance and repair work
- Comfort interacting with the public in a respectful, helpful manner
- Availability for full-time seasonal hours during the May to August window
- Basic ability to use common maintenance tools and equipment safely
