Outpatient Acute Care Coder is responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to patient charts of moderate to high complexity, abiding by coding rules and regulations, and working collaboratively with a supportive team.
Requirements
- One to three years of experience in medical record coding in an acute care setting
- High school diploma or equivalent, Associate’s degree in Health Information, Nursing, or related field, or formal coding classes completed and passed
- AHIMA or AAPC Certification, such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CIRCC, COC
- Functional knowledge of EMR, encoder, and CDI tools
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
