VulcanForms is hiring a Metallographic Lab Technician for 2nd shift at our advanced manufacturing site in Devens, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. About the Role
As a Metallographic Lab Technician on the 2nd shift in Devens, MA, you will prepare metallic samples for engineering evaluation and support part process qualification. Working hands-on in the metallography lab, you'll carry out the full range of critical preparation and analysis steps and deliver thorough, documented results that engineering teams rely on to validate VulcanForms' additively manufactured parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare metallic specimens for engineering assessment and part process qualification.
- Execute all core metallographic processes, including sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching of samples.
- Generate clear, accurate documentation and reports of sample preparation and findings.
- Support engineering evaluations that verify part quality and manufacturing process performance.
- Maintain lab equipment, consumables, and a clean, safe working environment during the 2nd shift.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with, or a strong aptitude for learning, metallographic sample preparation techniques.
- Careful attention to detail and a commitment to precise, repeatable results.
- Comfort producing organized written documentation of laboratory work.
- Willingness and availability to work a full-time 2nd shift schedule on-site in Devens, Massachusetts.
- Ability to collaborate with engineering teams in a fast-paced production manufacturing setting.
