Core Duties Perform routine and specialized chemistry and hematology testing using laboratory instrumentation and established protocols Prepare patient specimens, verify sample integrity, and ensure proper specimen handling and chain of custody Execute and maintain quality control procedures and maintain comprehensive testing records Interpret laboratory results, troubleshoot instrument and procedural issues, and escalate abnormal or critical findings per laboratory standards Maintain current knowledge of chemistry and hematology reference ranges, critical values, and relevant patient populations Contribute to laboratory efficiency through accurate, timely test completion and optimal workflow management Skills & Qualifications Current Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) licensure or certification required in the state of New Jersey Demonstrated expertise and hands-on experience in chemistry and hematology laboratory testing Proficiency with automated laboratory analyzers and laboratory information systems (LIS) Strong attention to detail with ability to maintain accuracy even under time constraints Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a clinical laboratory environment Commitment to patient safety and strict adherence to CLIA and applicable regulatory compliance standards Flexibility to work per diem shifts as scheduled to meet departmental operational needs Working at Virtua Virtua is a leading regional health system serving the Greater Philadelphia area.
